Do you need to have read mana scroll in order to purchase compose mana scroll? Asking for a character who would only know how to write what was necessary to make the scrolls, and can't actually read.

This is a good question.... I don't remember reading anything about needing to read in order to write... but it would make sense that you'd need to read in order to write.... unless you had really good luck and you were able to duplicate patters without knowing what those patterns meant.

No you do not.  The only prerequisite for Compose Mana scrolls is 2 MP.

Could I get a semi In/Out of game explanation for this? Is the process of "writting" more about embedding magic into the scroll and less about scribbling ink on the parchment?

Let's say I have 5 points in compose divine casting scrolls and 5 points in compose mana casting scrolls, would I be able make 5 level one divine casting scrolls and 5 level one mana casting scrolls, or can I only make a total of five casting scrolls?

Each skill is treated independently. If you have compose Divine scrolls as well as compose Mana scrolls, then you can make up to 5 Divine scrolls and up to 5 Mana scrolls.
