Brewing concoctions!

In the rule book it is clearly stated that labs have an upkeep and that it must be paid during the first event of every year.
What I am wondering is could one preemptive pay the upkeep for the next year so that should a medical/financial/other condition prevent them from being present during the first event they will not come back to a deteriorated lab?

Neat! Thanks. I'll probably pick up brewing in 2017 depending on how many more people join the murder, currently we already have one person picking up both potion and poison.
