Local Letter
Thank you for picking up the first edition of the local letter. This has been written to help keep town residents up to date on current events. If you have any information that would be helpful to this letter please bring it to me, Arbellason priest of Urgo, you may call me Arthur.
Welcome to the town of...
We were forced to leave the town of Rowan’s crossings at the end of our last gathering due to a vent of toxic gas making the town inhospitable. We have now arrived in this new town which upon this writing it is still unnamed. Little is known of this town so keep your guard up, no one knows what to expect. Those of us that traveled here straight from Rowan’s crossing expected it to take five days but due to the harsh winter it has taken till the spring to arrive, hopefully it will not take long to settle in and make this town feel like home.
Mindflayers...
In the beginning of last gathering some members of town, both new and old, had an encounter with a mindflayer. I, Arbellason was among this group. The mindflayer lead us one by one into a room alone and asked us if we would join them and they would grant us great power, they were not forthcoming of what kind of power so I promptly declined the offer and was sent away with no memory of how to return to the cave in which we met the mindflayer. I am unsure if any other member of the town accepted this offer but I hope that all said no. Mindflayers seek to dominate and charm mortals to be either slave or food. If you are interested in reading stories concerning mindflayers we collected stories on them from the temple of Urgo in the town of Rowans crossing, they are recorded in a book by Aster our town leader you can find this book at the bar.
The alliteration Villain...
The name we call him is the Metal Mask Man...see alliteration. He is an ancient man from far before that cataclysm who fell in love with the attendant of Ardenta ,the now fallen god of passion, The Mistress. Unfortunately the Mistress did not return his love and it drove him so mad he decided out of selfishness that if he could not have her no one would. Another admirer of the mistress, The Pain Bringer the attendant of the ravager, created a bracelet that binds the Mistresses soul to the jewelry saving her from the Metal Mask Man. The Mistress uses the bracelet now to hide in the the bodies of others to avoid the Metal Mask Man. Even to this day he searches for her killing all who comes in his path using a dark and fowl magic to steal the very souls of his victims trapping them and preventing them from traveling to death. He then controls their lifeless bodies and uses them to attack the next town never stopping until he finds the Mistress.
Cursed Undead…
The town has recently encountered undead skeletons with strange orange markings on their faces that only reassemble when destroyed. The towns member who have been killed by these creatures have been cursed to raise as undead each time they die before traveling to death. We discovered that these undead will die if we manage to kill a greater undead referred to as the anchor. We were able to discover the cave where this anchor dwells but were unable to kill it, at the time the only way to effect it was with holy water and magic missile.
Service to Urgo…
Saturday at noon I, Arbellason, will be holding a service to Urgo, the location has not yet been determined as I have yet been to this new town. I will do my best to inform everyone before hand where it will be held. Additionally I will be celebrating an upcoming holiday Pi day with a few games with prizes after service. There will also be pie serviced but I may not have enough for all so it will be on a first come first serve basis. The games will include riddles, trivia on the gods, and a pie eating contest. I hope to see you all there.
Werewolves…
An organization called the order of the wolves, consisting of lycanthropes and led by a wereboar, have set their eyes on a Nocturna relic called the lunar amplifier. Eleven months ago they attacked a Noctura temple and stole the item. A short time after a towns member, Moulder, along with a lucenta priest named Beacon Ray escorted a member of the Nocturna temple, Brom, back to retrieve his things but they were set upon by the order and the order demanded they join them or they would die. Moulder and the others refused to give in and were attacked with sleep poison when they awoke Beacon Ray had been captured. Since then we have been able to retrieve both Beacon Ray and the lunar amplifier as well as another captured lucenta priest. The order was attempting to turn Beacon Ray into one of them using the Lunar amplifier. We must be on guard as we are sure they will return. I have also been told even on new moons strike for the torso for less then that will be ineffective.
The Lazy Fox Tavern…
Do not worry folks the l Tavern will still be in business in our new town but this time with a new name, The Lazy Fox Tavern. On our way here I had time to sit down with everyone's favorite bar owner, Feliks, to talk about his plans for the bar in our new town. He has looked over a general layout and has found a building towards the back he believes will do for his new building. Due to all the travel the menu may be a little spares but not to worry food and alcohol will still be served along with a new drink called “meadâ€. The building not being as large and the sleeping arrangements being within the building does impose certain hours at the bar. They will operate between noon and three bells after midnight. feliks may keep the doors open till he goes to sleep later for those seeking conversation but nothing will be served and it will be quiet hours as not to wake the other bar staff who may be sleeping. Feliks has said he will have the bar up and running as soon as he can and hopes to have it going by our first night depending on if we have any hiccups upon our arrival. So please come on down to the newly opened Lazy Fox Tavern and try out the new mead!
The New Magistrate…
I have had words with both our leader lady Aster and also our new magistrate on this new change in town officials here is what they had to say on the matter.
Aster-"I do believe it is a good idea to ask Agathorn to be Magistrate. He has been eager to put his foot in the door and be part of the solution to problems.
There was a situation where we were at odds, but I do recognize that he wants so badly to bring greatness to the town. I saw this as a chance for him to show us that he will carry through on his words that he's been saying since he arrived over a year ago."
Agathorn- “I am thankful for the decisions of the town leadership in my appointment. I feel strongly that this position is one where I will be able to aid the town to the greatest degree. I recognize there has been controversy surrounding my past actions but I hope to put that all to rest with my actions as the magistrate. I admire the growth I have seen in this town since I have arrived and I have grown to see it as a home, I am grateful to be given this opportunity to protect this land and more importantly the people. I consider this position a great opportunity and do not take it lightly. I am very aware of the ramifications and potential long standing impact of my actions.â€
